    Tailem Bend – South Australia

We’re in the Murray River town of Tailem Bend, South Australia, after completing the Shipwreck coast trip and a lengthy drive through timber growing areas that would make Forest Enterprise weep. En route, we stayed at the small fishing port of Beachport and made a detour to the enchanting little town of Robe. The few photos show that both places are like little jewels, set in a blue sea and surrounded by sand dunes that stretch into the far horizon.

Our relatives in Sydney warned us that living costs would be much higher in Victoria and this has certainly been the case. Eating out is a bit of a problem area; the bottom end greasy spoon establishments are very basic (something Aussies call ‘daggy’), while anything with the least pretension to haute cuisine charges London rates.
Motel rates are quite a lot higher too, something that anyone planning a longer stay would have to take into account.

Tomorrow marks our arrival in Adelaide, we’re hoping to take a paddle boat trip on the mighty Murray River en-route, look for some interesting photos.
